Birch St., an attractive one-story Craftsman bungalow which is still standing. In the collection were several photos that had been framed at Stein's Stationery Store in about 1918. On the back were labels that not only provided the store's name but also featured a small image of Sam's face! I'll try to get those posted online sometime in the next month or so.Chris Jepsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00207321906121901004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31835367.post-77921584156603750382016-11-25T14:39:57.124-08:002016-11-25T14:39:57.124-08:00Thank you for posting this. Sam Stein had a few brothers who also lived in the area and had businesses. If I have this right (and I'm still working on it), Sam and his wife Celia had 2 children. Sam's daughter Helen went on to marry a man named Lewis Towne and they had a son named Robert Towne who is the famous screen writer, producer, etc. So Sam Stein is Robert Towne's grandfather. I was just given a narrative written several years ago about Helen (maybe written by Robert? I can't tell for sure) that includes some information about Sam. She was only 10 years old when her father passed.

Where is "Stein House"? We would love to know.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06092204418320056573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31835367.post-91295019621125442612016-10-03T23:20:18.815-07:002016-10-03T23:20:18.815-07:00I'm glad someone who appreciates local history...I'm glad someone who appreciates local history is living in Sam's house!
