This is a photo of the
Lomita Gun Club, which stood on the land (and water) that is now
Huntington Harbour (on the western edge of
Huntington Beach). It was founded in 1903, although this photo was taken around 1913. Most locals have heard of the
Bolsa Chica Gun Club, but did you know there were once at least 13 different hunting clubs located in the
Bolsa Chica/
Huntington Harbour/
Los Patos area at one time?

Very cool! Who would have thought that the Harbour had a history prior to the 60's? I doubt those gun club members would recognize it today.
Thanks for helping us HB residents learn a bit more about our history -- and for your perspective on current local events as well. The more I understand about our community, the more I feel connected to it.
