Happy New Year

Here's an ad for the Pacific Electric Railway's "Red Cars" and buses, from the Dec. 31, 1950 issue of the Huntington Beach News. Today they'd also tell you that it was "green" to take mass transit.
.
Update: Doug McIntosh sent me this great image of a Pacific Electric token to go with this post. Thanks, Doug!

Thank you Chris for all of your great posts throughout the year. I sure enjoy your blog and insight into O.C. history. Blessings my friend.
On a side, I sure wish the P.E. was still up and running. What a great chapter it was in the history of southern California mass transit. We are left with a few P.E artifacts.

Thanks Chris, and happy new year. Let's not forget that Pacific Electric had two lines in Huntington Beach, the Newport Beach/Balboa Line to Los Angeles and the Huntington Beach-Santa Ana Line.

Happy 2009 to you, thanks for all of your great posts! I haven't lived in O.C. since the 70's, but there's tons of stuff there that I love (not just Disneyland).

Hi Chris,

Happy new year to you as well.

Your posts and insights into OC keeps me coming back for more every week at your great web site. Your promotion of historical preservation is really vital to keeping the real OC alive for future generations. Please keep up the great work and know that many of us who haven't lived there for decades sincerely appreciate OC History Roundup.
